Payment schedule for wait listers

Thanks to amjlee for forwarding me this information on wait list payments. She had e-mailed Jeannie at Rose Tours to ask when payments were due after a wait lister is placed on the boat.

Her e-mail:
"I am on the waitlist, number 2800 something. If I get a call that there is a room available, is the deposit due right away? With that being said, if I get a call after the second payment is due in November, is the deposit plus the November payment due right away?"
Jeannie's response:
"If you get a call, we will be happy to work with you regarding payment. We do require the deposit at time of booking but we can give you a week or so. I know people need to prepare so we are happy to work with you."
Thanks so much amjlee!

Standard footnote: please follow @NKOTBCruise if you are confirmed on the boat. It's not official; it's a way to get in on a special surprise. : )

  1. wtf? RT is willing to work with them? We didnt get much time to prepare, and if people on the waitlist dont have the deposit at the time of the call...maybe they shouldnt be going! Why on earth are they getting more time?

  2. if we didnt have the deposit on August 6th, we were not on the boat. Nice that others get a deal. It should be the same thing for them, if RT calls and you dont have the money, tough luck.

  3. I think what Jeannie means is that when she calls you need to have $300 and if it is after November 1st then she will give you a week or so to get the additional $400...That is just my thoughts....

  4. While it's not fair they get extra time to pay, maybe that helps offset the stress of them thinking they weren't going to get on the cruise at all? Dunno. Just looking for some positivity in it all. And positivity is NOT about being soft, it's about being smart!

  5. Whoa guys - remember -we had to come up with $300 - I bet they will too. But $700 is a big decision to make in one minute on the phone. I think its fair they get a little time to get that in their accounts - or transfer money.

Plus - remember they are dealing with the stress of NOT being on the boat where we are all secure and have our confirmations. @jewelsd

  6. I got that from her email too. You need to have the deposit to get your room- but if the 2nd (or final) payment is already due......

  7. I think it's actually great that RT is willing to work with people, I am on the boat and didn't have to deal with the stress of the wait list so maybe the wait list people deserve a break since they have the stress of waiting and not knowing... I think we all need to be grateful we are on the boat and happy for those who are getting on from the wait list and stop hating... Just my opinion though...

  8. Why the catiness if you are on the boat what do you care about! If you are saying that the people on the WL shouldn't get special treatment because everyone that is on the boat had to come up with the money right away, maybe you shouldn't be on the boat if you are complaining about it. People on the boat have enough time to come up with the money and people on the WL may have used some of the money saved, so I think a week or whatever time RT wants to give to wait listers is fair.

  9. OMG! Why all these complaints from people who are already on the boat? Just be happy people that you aren't going through the hell of being on a "waitlist" where you are waiting and not knowing if you are going to get your spot on the boat! Geez...some people are just NEVER happy!!

  10. actually, the people on the wait list have the same amount of time as the rest of us to come up with the money! if they put themselves on the waitlist, then they have intentions of accepting a room should they get the call. so, it shouldnt matter when they get the call. they should be saving as though they are already on the boat!
if WL people have spent their money, thats their problem. nobody should be getting special treatment.
wow. RT is really effing this up!
geez...its always "more more more" and "me me me"

  11. why are waitlisters "stressed" LOL. Do they not have anything else going on in their lives? Is their world revolving around this cruise? LOL

wow. methinks some folks are a little too worked up here.

  12. Here are my thoughts on this. I was unfortunate and did not get on the cruise. I had the deposit in hand for me plus enough to cover my friends deposit for her since she wouldn't have it til two days later. I was ready to go and had it all figured out as far as getting the cruise paid for. When NKOTB tweeted get on the wait list (I can't believe I was still awake), I headed straight for it with the plan that I would still save my cash in case I was called. If you are on the wait list and hoping to be called and planning on saying, "Yes, I want that cabin and don't give it to anyone else." You should have the money without any problems. I'm pretty much putting away cash as if I had to come up with the next payment in November. However, I have what some people lack and that's common sense. I agree it's not fair for RT to give those on the WL extra time. Hell, I wouldn't expect it. If they called me and I didn't have the cash, I would assume tough luck for me. And really, that's how it should be. Just my opinion.

  13. If you can't afford to pay the deposit or agree to the rest of the payment plan, then don't accept a spot on the boat! COME ON PEOPLE! Nobody will judge you if you are POOR and can't get on a boat! Gosh! Everyone wants on the boat but can you really afford it? Think before you take a spot on the cruise wait list...duh!

  14. Guys - its not like they are giving them MONTHS - and its not even FOR SURE you know how things change with RT and this cruise craziness! I see no problem with them giving them a few days - I live paycheck to paycheck. This economy sucks. But I'm going on the cruise because I can afford the payment plan aspect. However, I don't keep all my money in checking - so I would need time to move banks and transfer funds if I was on the wait list.

I thought BH's were the best fans around I really don't understand why we are upset here. They have to pay. Its not like they are getting waived the fees. I am so lucky to be on the boat - and I have my fingers crossed for others.

  15. Here in Germany we hardly ever use credit cards as most purchases (about 70 %) are still done by cash. Credit card limits are calculated differently here (monthly net income minus rent/mortgage minus living expenses and any other regular costs => what is left becomes your credit card limit because in Germany we don't have minimum payments and such. We have to pay the balance in full at the end of the month so the banks want to make sure that people have the money to pay it back. They might give you a higher credit limit if you have savings with them or have been a customer for 10 - 20 years. At least that's how the person in the bank explained it to me when I applied)so most people don't have very high limits. I never had a credit card and got one specifically to be able to book the cruise and have a credit card limit of 500 EUR. If I had to pay the $700 in full at time of call, I would not be able to do it even though I have all the money for the cruise saved up already. So if they charge the $300 first, I can make the payment to the credit card company straight away and they can take the other $400 2-3 days later. Imagine the people who won't get a call until mid April and have to pay $2000 or more all at once. Don't know if that's possible with an American credit card, it certainly isn't with a German one. It is bad enough that they only accept credit cards for payment but at least they have to take into account that non-american customers don't have access to unlimited credit card limits.

  16. My $0.02:

We had the money to go on Aug 4 or 6, but we also had several days notice to get the deposit ready. Many people don't keep extra money in checking, some may need to get pre-paid debit cards from the bank, etc. I think it's reasonable to allow a few days to get funds transfered around. Plus, what if (heaven forbid) you don't get a call until April? Whether you've been putting aside money for that reason or not, you may not have it at your fingertips at a moment's notice.

  17. wow really ladies? Be happy other blockheads that want on the boat get the chance. Their going to get a random phone call and it's going to take a bit to get all their stuff organized. I agree that they should have the money if they put themselves on the waitlist, but I don't think RT is doing anything wrong by giving them a little bit of time to get organized. If you're already on the boat, what does it matter? Just be happy! It's going to be a blast!!

  18. On the last cruise, we didn't sign up until March, when they finally released the cabins left. We were just thrilled that they opened up, but we did have to come up with a big lump of money all at once. We are still paying for that cruise, but we wouldn't miss this one. Way too much fun. Everyone relax, It doesn't matter how long it takes to pay, it will be worth it. I don't care that they get a little extra time, I"m just glad that we got in on the first day, it took five hours but we did it. Have happy thoughts and lets just hope everyone gets that call.

  19. i think you guys should be grateful that you are on the boat who cares when you have to pay!!!! Unlike some of us who couldn't get reservations!! Blah pees being so petty makes me sick

  20. i am seriously shocked at how bitchy you ladies are. why care what the WL ppl do or don't have to do? you're on the effin boat!! you are confirmed and sailing in May. Those poor WL people are busy waiting by the phone for a call. and now you don't think they should have the opportunity to sail if they don't have the money at the drop of a dime? WHO CARES? why do you "sisters" always want to keep each other down? worry about you and what YOU do and stop getting upset about what others are doing. be glad you're sailing, relax, take a deep breath, and let it go. Stop being such nasty catty you-know-whats.

  21. My mom & I booked for the last cruise at the end of March. Once we were on the boat we saw people who were MUCH older and they didn't look like NKOTB fans. Turns out they had so many EXTRA rooms that the same trip we paid $2000 PER PERSON for, people got to book as a last minute trip special for $200!!! They were senior citizens who lived in Miami and because they saw the "deal" booked themselves! So people pd $200 for everything we did. They even had the color coded wristbands...so the way I see it..I think plenty of rooms will open up. The way I looked at it? I was pissed that people got to book days before and pay $200! That's the people everyone should be bitching about!!
