Wait listers now relying on cancellations

Just got the latest from @JordansPearl, who spoke to Rose Tours this morning.

The inventory of rooms from bad credit cards and double bookings is now gone. They are done going through everything. All the wait listers now are relying on cancellations to get rooms. That explains why the calls have dropped off.

Pearl also asked what happens if a single person cancels but the next on the wait list is a group of two people. Rose Tours said that if only a single is available, they will offer it to the duo first before offering it to the next person. The duo then has the option of splitting up or waiting for a double to open.

This puts a different light on the vacancies posted on ning. I'm guessing some will not appreciate the handpicking of offers to fill spots instead of letting Rose Tours fill the vacancies in order of the wait list. Just a guess.

Thanks @JordansPearl for the info!

  1. I have a question and it's probably been answered a thousand times before. :/

I bought 2 tickets - i'm 19 - but the person i'm with is over 21, but not my parent... what do they mean by "guardian"? As long as the person is over 21 isn't that okay?

    Thanks!

  2. No, it has to be one of your parents and the guardian needs to be over 25. The only exception is if you are married - you will have to provide your marriage certificate. You will not be allowed on the cruise otherwise. If I was you I would cancel as soon as possible so you don't lose too much money. Now you will only have to pay the cancellation fee but if you go to the port and they don't allow you on the boat they will not reimburse you the money as they claim it is your fault for not reading their t&c before booking. You can also call them and ask if you can get out without paying the cancellation fee by saying that due to everything being so stressfull you misunderstood the age limit rule. Good luck!

  3. I don't think all cabins are full yet. They probably got so annoyed with people calling all the time that they just say that they are through with the list. As some people on the boat already cancelled I assume that they might have had cancellations from waitlist people, too. Which leads me to think that they decided to put calling wait list people on hold until November. It will save them a lot of time and work if they wait until the 2nd payment is due to call people as 1. lots of people already on the boat will probably not have the money and 2. people on the waitlist who don't have the money can be taken off, too. Which means that they only need to change the cabin booking information once. If they change it now and the person cancels in November they would have to change it again. I might be wrong but there haven't been that many people who where called from the waiting list and I just can't imagine that there were only a tiny amount of people with bad credit / wrong credit card information (remember how RT told someone that a lot of cabins will open up which doesn't seem to have happened). Who knows, maybe they haven't finished with the list yet and don't want people to know as it makes them look somewhat incompetent. It is an easy way out for RT to say we finished and there are no cabins until November as people will probably stop calling once they hear that.

  4. I am not sure I'm going to do this, but would like to get some opinions.

I am traveling alone on the cruise and booked on the Riviera deck. I was thinking of auctioning off the opportunity to share my room. It wouldn't be based soley on the highest bidder, because I'd like to make sure we're a good fit and aren't going to kill each other in three days. I would have you fill out some info about you, why you think I should pick you and also how you show kindness to others. (kind of a positivity thing).

I talked to RT today and they said I could add someone to my cabin. Keep in mind I booked single, so we'd probably have to share a king sized bed if there's not a sofa, or maybe they have a roll away .. I would get more details if I do this.

Anyway, I'd love opinions on what you think of this and just see if there's any interest.
    Thanks!

  11. Just wanted to let know Liz and Stephanie that I saw your responses. I will set up an email address or a website to go to or a twitter or something. I'm just doing this off the cuff gang, and I'm not terribly tech savvy. But I felt badly about girls not getting on the boat.
(I should have been on the first one but ended up in the hospital the day before departure).

Anyway, I'll check back in here to give you the updates on where to find me.

  15. Ok ladies,

Just spoke to RT again, before I went further into this, I wanted to verify what I was told. When I called this AM, I was told it was no problem. I called back this afternoon and spoke to someone else (not giving names here, don't want to throw anyone under the bus).

As it stands, I am not allowed to do this. The wait list doesn't have as much to do with cabins as it does the seating in the room for performances. I asked about the performance being on the Lido Deck, and they said that's just the main one.

I asked about the possibility of someone wanting to go that couldn't get into the shows in the performance area, but she said there wouldn't be a way to police that, because there are too many on board.

RT seemed willing to help me help someone else. And the person I spoke to said to keep in contact with her to see if there are any changes.

I will keep in contact with RT and see if there are any new developments. If I get a green light to take one of you, I will respond on this blog.

  16. Hi Nicole,

I would love to go with you sooo much you couldn't imagine...
It might be the last chance to spend the summer of my live with my 7 other girls which all have been booked...I actually was the only one out of eight who didn't get a confirmation email and now it seems like I'm the only one who has to stay here in germany...

Hope RT could bring us all on the boat and we'll get any information soon...this waiting game is aweful...
